“Look at it, David - just look at it.”
It was late evening and the warm sun was beginning to set behind them. Upon their wrap around porch sat Alexis Terry, clad in a white sun dress sitting in a wicker chair. Next to her was her long-time friend and cohort David Sinclair who was sporting a gray stripe suit. Both of them looked deeply at the briefcase Alexis had won earning her a Supreme Championship match and their gaze lasted longer than it probably should when eyeing up such an inanimate object. But for them, it was more - it was step one.
“Isn’t it beautiful?”
She leaned forward in her chair and grabbed the case. She held it tight and her eyes turned to David. He had a slick smile pasted on his face.
“I said I would do it without them, David. I said I didn’t need Aspen and Callum to help me and I didn’t. RSW is going to kneel before me.”
“Let’s not get carried away. A Supreme Championship match whenever you please is power I can’t even fathom. We need to be smart about this. Let’s focus on Bryce Albright before we get ahead of ourselves.”
Alexis nodded. She agreed she needed to keep her focus towards her match this week. Bryce wasn’t a slouch. He was a former champion coming off a tough loss. In sports, he would be considered a “trap game”. He could beat anybody on any given day. But she wasn’t going to let her natural high die down just yet. She planned on basking in her glory for just a bit longer. Or, at least until the sound of a car pulling up stole her attention away.
Both David and Alexis shot a glance to the driveway. Stepping out of the car was Aspen Chaud. David looked back at Alexis. Without speaking a word, he instinctively rose from his seat and headed inside leaving his client alone. Leaving the case in her chair, Alexis met Aspen at the bottom of the steps. She crossed her arms.
“Come here to congratulate me, yeah?”
“We need to talk. If this is going to work, you need to start taking orders.”
Alexis cracked a small laugh.
“I said I wasn’t going to sit around and be Callum’s back up. Last I heard he left you high and dry - went back to California. Are you here because you have nobody else to hitch your ride to? If you want to ride my coattails that’s fine. But, we do things my way. You listen to me. You take orders from me. Take it or leave it.”
She turned from Aspen and headed back up the stairs hoping to leave her “frenemy” with a bit to chew on but her hope was soon gone.
“Alexis, I -”
She was quickly cut off as Alexis turned and raised her hand.
“I’m not interested in hearing anything you have to say. I’m the one who walked out a winner, despite you and Callum. I came out the victor. I got the briefcase. ME. I’m the one with a future Supreme Championship match. ME. I already proved I don’t need you to begin my dominance over RSW. So, anything you could possibly do or say won’t change my mind. You want to hop on the Alexis’ bandwagon, whatever. But I operate under different rules. I operate with action.
I have a match on Vendetta against Bryce Albright. You want to prove to me you are playing for my team now? Then make sure Bryce is the one on the mat at the end of the match. If you want to leave then leave. I don’t need you.”
She finished speaking and Aspen simply looked stunned at what she had said. Alexis turned once more and headed back up the stairs. She once more looked at the briefcase. She then grabbed it.
She opened the screen door and smiled.
“David, isn’t it just so beautiful!”
