I'VE GOT SHIT TO PROVE
I told you so.
Maisi’s ugly words echoed in Aiden Van’t Hoff’s brain as he slowed up, coming to the end of his morning run. It was a cool morning, but sweat was dripping off the 22-year old. He had been running for a solid hour, trying to clear his mind, and put Deception behind him. Aiden had given it his best go and had come up short. He didn’t mind - shit happens - and there would be another chance. Bryce Albright wasn’t going to hold that championship for long. Aiden was still gunning for it.
Maisi Alexander, however, hadn’t been able to let it go. Aiden was well aware there were whispers about the not so happy couple. Albright had a few choice words about them for lack of anything else intelligent to say. But it was no one’s business but his. Aiden and Maisi had invested years into their relationship to fulfill the terms of their future inheritance. Millions and millions of dollars were on the line for both of them. Granted it could have been more, but Aiden had gone rouge.
He was a wrestler and Maisi still couldn’t wrap her head around it.
Aiden came to a park and jogged over to an unoccupied bench. The only other people out this early were joggers and a RSW cameraman. Knowing they wanted him to talk about Archer, caused the party boy to roll his eyes. Archer was a freak and a psychopath. That seemed to be the norm in RSW.
Aiden jerked the buds that were attached to his iPhone from his ears and focused. “Simply put, Deception wasn’t my night. I talked a good game, but ultimately didn’t back it up. Shit happens. I could have prepared better, taken it a little more seriously, had a better game plan. Now I know.”
He shrugged.
“I also know that Archer is no joke here in RSW. He believes himself to be a fucking badass and has the track record to prove it. That’s great. Truly, it is. But here’s the thing. Archer also failed in his quest to become a champion at Deception. The Lord unleashed a fuck ton of angst that personally I had no clue he had on Archer and took him to hell and back. That’s why my boy is the new RSW Supreme champ and Archer is not.”
Aiden smirked. Why not piss off a crazy person and rub their loss in their face? Aiden knew he was the smarter wrestler out of himself and Archer, but that didn’t necessarily mean he matched Archer in the common sense department.
“Like the Lord, I’m just a better wrestler than Archer. I’ve seen tapes and did some research and shit. Archer doesn’t win matches because of his technique and submission skills. He wins using mind games and scare tactics, and by fighting. I’m always down for a fucking fight. Archer will be pissed and out for blood come Vendetta. He’ll see me as someone to make an example out of. I’m not someone’s bitch, Archer. You need to remember that going into Vendetta. I’m more than happy to fucking fight and I’ll out-wrestle you any day of the week.”
That was likely true. Aiden was by far a better wrestler than Archer, and he was stronger. He had the advantage over the main eventer. What he lacked was experience, and that was what made Archer so dangerous. For everything Archer lacked, he more than made up for. It was not going to be an easy match for Aiden whatsoever. He knew that.
“The Lord, Rave, Hails, and myself aren’t going anywhere. You may have destroyed Raven inside the ring, but you paid the price for that. In the end, you failed when it mattered the most. I’m sure you’ll be looking for another shot at the Lord, and if that’s going to happen, you’ll have to defeat me first. I’m not a fucking slouch. Don’t underestimate me and think a showing in a shitty battle royal is all I’m capable of it. Like you, I have shit to prove come Vendetta. I want Albright and I want the Absolute Championship. Bring your best. I'll bring my best. Save your mind games, though. I don't give a shit."
Aiden really didn't.
