FRATERNITY FIGHT CLUB“The first rule of fight clu…” … “Eww. Wait. Who said anything about rules?” … “Ughhhh. Hails, shut up for a second.”
Lord Blake cleared his throat. His Supreme championship strapped around his waist. Sitting around him in this dingy, dark and dusty basement were Hailey Banks, Raven MacDemare and a handful of other less important people. Aiden Van’t Hoff stands off to the side, leaning casually against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest. On this day, Lord wore a grey sleeveless Auburn shirt. Aiden wore Ole Miss colors and Hailey with an Alabama Crimson Tide tee.
“The first rule of Fraternity Fight Club is do not rip, pull, or tear my friggin’ Auburn shirt.” … “Someone should, it’s awful.” … “Not nearly as bad as Alabama.”
Hailey shot Aiden a glare to which he smiled arrogantly. Hailey stood and carried on, “The second rule of Fraternity Fight Club is to respect the Crimson Tide. Because we have more talent, experience and national titles than anyone, especially my next opponent.”
Everyone stared at Hailey as she stood proudly. Aiden coughed loudly, throwing in an insult between coughs. “Ole Miss beat Alabama for two straight years.” cough. Hailey rolled her eyes, “That’s not important. Ole Miss will never matter when it comes to championship conversation, right Lord?”
“Oh, you mean like the one Auburn won over Oregon?” … “Lord, beating Oregon isn’t something to brag about. They have a history of coming up short. They always look good due to those fancy uniforms that Nike supplies them, and they can always talk a pretty good game. But when it’s all on the line? Oregon, as tough as they make themselves seem, always come up short.”
She smiled. “I would advise them not to be like Ole Miss, though. Don't bring your trash talk to a match unless you can back it up. You can have a great record or background, but if you can sustain it over the course of an entire season, what purpose does it have? It just makes you look weak in the end.” Winking over at Aiden, who gives her the middle finger, silently mouthing “fuck you”.
Hailey seemed to have taken control over this “fight club” meeting. “It doesn’t matter how great they consider themselves to be at stupid play styles - at the end of the game, all that remains is their opponent standing over them. Must be an Oregon thing, huh? Talk a big game and look nice, but can’t put together a reasonable argument for becoming a champion.”
Throughout her speech, you could sense the hints that Hailey dropped in regards to Violet - her opponent. And now it was clear. All eyes on Hailey at the moment,
“Whoops, there goes that focus of mine right? Getting off topic with football talk.” She cleared her throat, “Rule Three of fight club? If someone says “stop”, goes limp or taps out the fight is over and with terrible submission defense, I am willing to bet that little miss Gangsta is going to be tapping pretty quickly. No matter how good of a “fighting” background that Vi has, this isn’t an MMA cage or unsanctioned street brawl. This is professional wrestling and I have years of training and experience over her in that field. And when it comes to professional wrestling, I will not only out wrestle Vi but I will definitely make her go limp if not tap out first.”
Hailey’s submission prowess was well-noted, and she would be looking to take advantage of that at Vendetta. “I’m not worried about her speed. It will be hard for her to run and jump around like a bunny when I have her down and wrapped up in a submission, right?” … “Gotta’ catch her first, Hails”, Aiden chimed in. “Gee, thanks Aiden. What are you going to tell me next, watch out for her power and striking? Or maybe that it will take a lot of damage to subdue her?” … “Just helping you keep focus, Hails.” Hailey nodded. “Technique will be the key factor, Aiden, and I have it in spades.”
“Yes you do. Now, let’s jump ahead into the rules. What’s rule, hmmm, six?” he asked, smirking immediately after. Hailey thought for a second, you could read her lips counting She then spoke, “No shirt, no shoes?” she asked inquisitively.
“Exactly. That’s what I want to see. This match with no shirts.”
