For what seemed like the 36th time that day, Arianny DeLise emptied the contents of her stomach into the toilet and slumped back against the wall. Things hadn't gotten any better for Arianny after she had left The Arena. She had flat out refused to go too the hospital. Arianny had been terrified when she had seen that blood and honestly, she had never felt more alone before. Mondae still wasn't answering her phone and Arianny hadn't heard from Dallas since he had told her where she was to meet him and their parents for Katt Carter’s birthday dinner. She wasn't even remotely thrilled about spending the evening with her family later.
After a moment, Arianny pushed herself off the wall and went to the sink. She took her time rinsing her hands and brushing her teeth to get the vile taste of stomach acid and puke out of her mouth. She fixed her face, added some blush to put some color back in her cheeks, and headed into the dressing room that connected to the en suite bathroom of the master bedroom.
“Oh hey.”
For whatever reason, Shawn DeLise was in Arianny’s dressing room, sitting on top of one of the dressing tables Arianny used to lay out her accessories. She didn't even have the energy to demand to know why. She just started stripping down to her bra and panties, and walked over to the where her dresses and gowns were organized.
“Oh hey? That's the only fucking greeting I get?”
Arianny rolled her eyes but walked over to her husband and placed a kiss on his cheek. Shawn brushed a hand down her bare back and gave her scantily clad backside a slap. “What's with you?”
Arianny sighed and her lips curled into a little pout. If he had seen what happened with her earlier, he wasn't bringing it up and for that she was grateful. She placed her arm around his shoulders and leaned against him. “My parents are in town. I have to go meet them for dinner. It's my mom’s birthday. I won't be gone but for a couple of hours. When I get home, I want to eat popcorn and Netflix in our bed.” Arianny had officially moved into the master bedroom.
“If you don’t want to go, just don’t go.” Shawn moved his hand up to Arianny’s chin and used his thumb to push her head upwards so their eyes met. “We can just fuckin’ chill around here if you want. It’s not like you need to be there. From the little information you’ve let me in on, you know, regarding your mom… it’s not like she gives a damn if you are there or not.”
“Like everything else in my life right now, I wasn't given a choice. Plus you don't know my parents. Apparently my dad has something he wants to tell Dallas and me. I just can't freaking wait.” Arianny’s voice was dripping with sarcasm and she moved away from Shawn. With her back to him, she began going through her clothes and pulling random dresses out to try on.
“Then I shall come.” Shawn looked at the wall sized mirror inside the dressing room. The getup he found himself in, grey sweat pants and a plain old white t-shirt and no socks, would just not do. “What oh what, should I fuckin’ wear?”
Arianny hadn't paid him any attention.
Shawn walked over to his side, which was quite a small part of the dressing room that Arianny took up ninety-five percent of. He began looking through his small selection of outfits. “So, what the fuck do you think he has tell you anyways? How much of a disappointment that piece of shit Dallas is? Or maybe he’s no longer cutting you off?”
“I really couldn't care less. I just want it to be over quickly and without any blood shed.” Arianny went to lay her dresses out on one of the tables and noticed Shawn was pulling clothes out as well. “Uhhh what are you doing?”
“Uhhhh what does it look like?”
“You can not come to this dinner.” Arianny’s voice was stern. “The last thing I would ever do is subject you to my family. Not even you deserve that.”
Arianny already knew exactly how it would go and the last thing she wanted was for Shawn to see how badly her family affected her. He didn't need to see her mother in action and she didn't want him to witness her getting verbally abused and just taking it. Arianny presented a picture of confidence to the world and to Shawn. It needed to stay that way.
“I wasn’t putting it up for discussion.” Shawn grabbed a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt from his shelf. “This will do. You’re my wife and I am your husband. It’s about time I met the fucks that pretty much disowned you.”
Shawn grabbed a pair of clean socks. “I got your back.”

Kusakabe was Arianny’s favorite sushi place in all of San Francisco. It was one of the few meals she would actually indulge in. But sitting across from Katt Carter and Andrew Blake had zapped whatever small appetite she could have possibly had. The Blakes had been sitting together for the past twenty minutes and so far, no one had spoken a word. Andrew Blake had been in and out, on his phone, and Katt had been shooting glares at Arianny every few minutes. Arianny had kept her eyes on the menu, not paying it any attention, and Dallas kept sneaking glances at Shawn. It was the first time they had been in the same room together since Dallas had returned from Paris. There was no love lost between them.
Katt sent the waiter away from the table for a second time because Andrew wasn't back. She finally decided to speak. She fixed Shawn with a long look, her dark green eyes piercing through his soul almost. “So you're the husband?”
“Looks like that doesn’t it?” Shawn shot Katt a smug smile as he reached over and put his hand over top of Arianny’s hand. He gave it a gentle squeeze. “I am her husband.” Shawn took his other hand and began to scratch the side of his face with his middle finger, pointed at none other than Dallas Blake. He could feel Dallas constantly taking glances at him. “And you must be the mother who brought my beautiful wife into existence?”
“Giving birth to someone doesn't make you a mother,” Arianny muttered.
Katt just rolled her eyes. “I wouldn't call Marina beautiful. She's okay, but far from stunning.”
Arianny looked over at Shawn and gave him a bored look. “I told you this wasn't going to be pleasant.” She took her hand from his and placed them in her lap. “My mom tried to abort me, you know. Daddy and my Aunt Brianna wouldn't let her. She basically told them both to fuck off but right as she was about to do it, her water broke. That's how I ended up here.”
“I never wanted children, that's true.” Katt didn't seem apologetic at all. “But at least Dallas has been a blessing. You've done nothing but ruin your father’s last name and drag our legacy through the mud. It's a shame you ever got out of jail.”
Shawn looked towards Arianny. “I disagree. In fact, I think your daughter is the most beautiful women I’ve ever set my eyes on.” He glanced back towards Katt now, his expression real cold looking. “And to be bluntly honest. If you see that thing--” he pointed towards Dallas, “as a fuckin’ blessing, you’re fuckin’-”
Arianny kicked Shawn under the table. Shawn caught himself, and that smug smile from earlier reappeared on his face. “Well guess you don’t have to worry about her ruining your husband’s name no longer. My wife, my beautiful wife, isn't a Blake anymore. She’s a DeLise now and I’m proud of that.”
“Will you still be proud when she's laid out in the middle of the ring come Thursday night thanks to The Revolution?” Katt’s voice was cold and cruel. “You believe Hanalei Brightly doesn’t measure up to this God given talent you think you have, Marina, but your arrogance is going to be your downfall. You have the same mentality as your father and that allows you think you're better than what you actually are. The right person is going to come along and destroy you eventually and it wouldn't surprise me if it happens at Scream Fest. You’ve skated by on your mediocre looks, big mouth, and more talented friends so far. But Hanalei has managed to bury herself under your skin and take away the only thing you care about.”
Katt smirked as Andrew walked back into the picture. “So how did you manage to trap Shawn into marriage? Did you give him what you gave Dick Fusco back in Deathcore to get your title shot?”
Andrew took a seat next to his wife and rolled his eyes. “Do we really have to bring this up again?”
“Well look at that, your mom says she don’t care but she appears to be one of your biggest fans. She’s been watching your career so closely.” Shawn laughed and shook his head at the same time. He wanted to climb on top of the table, walk across it, and kick Katt right in the mouth. He kept his cool, though, and took a sip of the water in front of him. “She didn’t trap me, not even close. Actually, you could say I was the one who trapped her into marriage. Yeah. I did. I seen her, and just wouldn’t take no for an answer.”
Arianny placed her hand on Shawn’s thigh under the table and gave it a squeeze. It wasn’t out of annoyance or anything like that. It was purely out of need and he laced his fingers through hers. For once, Arianny was glad to have him by her side. “So why exactly did I have to show up to this? Neither of you have bothered to speak to me in months. In fact, I haven’t spoken to you,” Arianny looked over at Andrew. “Since like May or something. Apparently you have something you need to tell us?”
Dallas finally looked over at his father. “Are you just going to shove it in our faces that you’re naming your bastard you successor?"
