Imitation and Frustration
"I don't understand, what is Mister Larsen doing again?"
"I'm sure he'll be here shortly, Issak. I told you I've just called him, he said he'd call back."
Lauren Parker and Issak Otto stood outside the private LIC building. Somehow, with all the hallways and doors inside, they had just managed to miss ZERO walking in. Miles was supposed to follow after them, checking on a few business matters before meeting them downstairs. Issak sat on the ground, impatient.
"I hate waiting..."
"Patience is a virtue, Issak."
"I'm tired of waiting, Miss Lauren. I'm not talking about waiting right now for Mister Larsen, I'm talking about waiting for Scream Fest. Since signing my contract with RSW, I've failed to break from this wall that's holding me back from reaching my full potential. This ladder match can get me there, it's all I've been thinking about since the match was announced. That and how...what's that American slang term...cocky, these new signees are."
"Some of them are sweet, and some aren't. That's how it goes in this game, Issak."
"I know I haven't been signed for that long, and maybe I don't understand proper etiquette for wrestling companies in America, but if I was a newcomer I would always do my homework before opening my mouth. But these RSW newcomers, they don't seem to bother, don't seem to care. How else will you know how to approach a situation? This ladder match, specifically. I know there's a chance that anything could happen, but someone isn't going to end up with their hand raised by luck."
"But you still have these competitors that don't seem to know anything about RSW. Or perhaps they do, but they're going to pretend like it doesn't exist. You've got someone like Alexis Terry, who seems to have penned RSW a letter. Doesn't she realize RSW already has a resident letter writer? His name's Archer and he's in the main event at Scream Fest. If Alexis is trying to end up with the Supreme Championship eventually, like she says, she should do a bit of research. I don't know, maybe that was her intention. Catch Archer's attention, who knows maybe he'll be champion by then. Either way, I don't think she would have penned that open letter if she had done some homework, she probably would have done something a little different."
He shrugged his shoulders a little, not fully understanding if that was her intention or not, but knowing he'd read one too many RSW letters in the past few months. He sighed.
"Don't get me wrong, she's not as bad as Trixie. I have respect for anyone who tries stepping into this ring. It's a rough industry, and you've got to be strong to step inside the ring. But you don't need brains, I guess? My favorite part is when Trixie said Richard and Lord were dating, talk about drama! Someone better tell Raven and then call...what's that American old guy's name...Jerry Springer, because things are about to get crazy in RSW! It's more likely that Trixie simply didn't bother actually checking to see if she knows what she's talking about."
"...or someone like Judas Hernandez. We've already got people like Violent Intent running around here, who I find ten times more scary than this guy. He doesn't realize what the people of RSW have already had to deal with. He shouldn't be surprised if RSW doesn't buy his whole doom and gloom. He also tried to say the Bay Area title briefcase is the biggest thing up for grabs. These people are ridiculous. There's really only one reason he's on my mind."
Issak paused, as Lauren walked over to where he was sitting. Of course she wasn't going to sit on the ground next to him, but it appeared she had given up on Miles coming down anytime soon. He must have gotten held up with something (ZERO), so she resigned to standing near Issak, listening to his rant a little more intently than before.
"Because he attacked LIC. While he may not 'care' about my vendetta, I don't really get why he thinks I'd care. It's MY vendetta, I wouldn't expect him to care. I just want to make sure he doesn't succeed, that'll cause me the joy that I'm looking for. All he wants to do is make people bleed, well that's easy to do. You even say the word blood around these parts and five people backstage start pouring, it seems. RSW is about blood, plain and simple, someone ends up in the hospital at every show. Yet, all Judas wants to do is make people bleed? I don't understand the way America thinks sometimes."
"It just makes me angry. Why would you walk into a match like this unprepared? Why would you put yourself through the embarrassment? I think about the arrogance these newcomers must posses. They think they're just going to walk in and leave with some of the biggest prizes to ever be offered in RSW. I can see already that they're letting their arrogance blind them. They'll be defeated if they're brushing the current RSW competitors aside."
"Besides, I promised you, and I promised Miles, that I wouldn't spend this match thinking about revenge of any sort. I know you meant more along the lines of Bryce Albright, the Absolute title, and Arianny DeLise, but I'm going to apply it to the entire match. Judas deserves to be locked in the Class Action for the entire match, tapping for eternity, but I won't spend my time doing that. I won't even try to get these other participants back for being so cocky towards me this week. No. I've got one goal, and one goal only, to get one of those briefcases. If I manage to knock some sense into some of these other people, including Judas, at the same time then so be it. But I'm going to make sure I get one of those briefcases!"
Issak turned and looked up at Lauren, who was nodding and agreeing with what he had said about remaining focused on the briefcases themselves. It was at this moment that the main doors to the LIC facility flew open. Both Issak and Lauren turned towards the door, expecting to see Mister Larsen finally walking out. Instead, they looked upon ZERO. They were surprised, not realizing he was in the building to begin with. ZERO continued walking straight ahead. Lauren noticed something was off, and chose not to say anything. Issak on the other hand, could not read people very well.
"ZERO! Hey! Where've you been, buddy?"
Issak stood up, arms outstretched as if he was going to give his partner a warm embrace, even if they had never had that sort of friendship. Still, Issak couldn't deny that he'd missed his LIC partner. But ZERO didn't look over, he didn't even flinch at Issak's voice yelling to him. He continued looking straight ahead, walked past them, and didn't look back.
