Friends and Enemies.
Issak didn't understand trivial matters such as politics. In Sweden, things were always so easy, but here in America, you really had to think. Corruption runs deep, which is yet another word that Issak was quickly learning. You never really know who has your bests interests in the end, nor who has been trying to take you down since day one. While it was a hot moment in American history regarding politics, one that Issak was amazed to be apart of even if he didn't understand the ramifications, his main concern in politics came from his own backyard. He didn't quite understand it, one second ZERO was fighting with them, and the next he was...on his own team? Issak didn't understand how one could simply pick up and leave, nor what that meant for him in the long run.
Mostly, he didn't comprehend what was to be expected of him in this situation.
The night of Scream Fest, Issak sits in the LIC locker room, watching the monitor as the Absolute Championship match comes to a close. Both Bryce and ZERO have been fighting back and forth the entire match, with many moments that had Issak jumping up in his chair. Mister Larsen and Lauren Parker continued watching, with Issak being the only person that was showing any sort of emotion at all. The other two just watched on in silence. Issak screams out as ZERO is shown tossing Bryce from the top of the cage, hitting down below with a loud thud. ZERO climbs off the cage, the bell rings and the Absolute Championship is placed in his hands. Issak is simply overjoyed, yelling and screaming, and not wondering why Lauren and Miles aren't doing the same.
"That's enough, Issak."
Miles reached forward, pushing the largest button on the monitor and turning it off. The last thing seen is ZERO holding the championship proudly, looking right into the camera, as Bryce tries to regain himself in the cage, titleless.
"You're right, Mister Larsen. I'm going to go out there right now and congratulate him..."
"Isaak, wait!"
Issak attempted to open the door, but Lauren, who was standing right next to it, shut the door immediately. Issak turned to her with an eyebrow raised, why would he need to wait? ZERO was out there right now, probably to be walking back through the curtain any minute now. Issak wanted to be there when he did.
"Do you really think that's a good idea, Issak?"
"Well why not, he finally won the Absolute Championship! Did you see how Albright flew off the cage?!"
Issak laughed just thinking about it, clutching his stomach from the laughter. Mister Larsen and Lauren did not seem as amused though.
"Issak, we've talked about this. I'm very proud of you for winning this briefcase, it means you have a shot at the Absolute Championship when you choose. We're going to have to be strategic about when we use this. That man out there - ZERO - he's the champion now, not Bryce Albright. Get Bryce out of your head. The match you're going to have now, when we cash this in, is with the man you want to go and congratulate."
"But we did it before. Maybe not for the title, but it'll just be like last time, for the contendership. LIC got through it that time, we'll do it again."
"Issak, ZERO made his choice, he's not with LIC anymore."
"But Mister Larsen, it's over. ZERO defeated Bryce. We did it. He's done. ZERO won't be angry anymore."
"He decided before Scream Fest, Issak, there's no going back."
"But Mister Larsen, I don't understand why we would just give up after everything LIC has just gone through and I don't know why..."
"Issak, you're not listening to me. ZERO is your enemy now, repeat it."
Issak processed the words in his mind but he didn't like the way they sounded, even if it wasn't out loud yet. He wasn't used to it. ZERO may have never officially returned Issak's want for friendship, but they were partners in the least. They worked together, trained together, they fought on the same side.
"No Mister Larsen, I..."
Miles was quick to cut him off, growing frustrated with Issak's childish stubbornness.
"ZERO is your enemy now, say it."
"Mister Larsen I'm just trying to keep everyone..."
"Say it."
"I...
"Say it, Issak!"
Miles had reached the end of his rope with Issak, and Issak was taken aback. Never had he seen Miles so angry, in such a state. He had seen Miles angry, at Bryce, Arianny, and the like, but that was different. Issak grew silent, as Miles continued starring at him, not letting up. Issak sort of rolled his eyes, his facial expression was a pained one. He didn't like the road he was headed down, but if there was ever a moment to decide if he was going to follow ZERO's path, or stay loyal to the man who had brought him here in the first place, it was now. Issak sighed.
"...ZERO is my enemy."
