Pasadena, California
Lord Blake and Walter Hobbs.
The two representatives chosen to step into the ring with ZERO on his Vendetta debut. Well, not looking further than Shoot Saturday, ZERO has been training relentlessly for his battle against Arthur Thomas, while Miles Larsen - the manager and voice of ZERO, has been doing some research into the Vendetta opponents.
So here in Pasadena while ZERO is likely at the state of the art training facility that Miles has funded, Miles sits in his studio loft watching over videos of both Walter Hobbs and Lord Blake on YouTube. He jotted down notes now and again, noticing a flaw or a weakness that could potentially be exploited.
"It's all so rather tedious, don't you think? I don't mean sitting here and taking notes for me to then pass onto ZERO at a later date for this match, but I mean the thought of having to climb the ladder again just because a few foolish promoters had their panties in a bunch when ZERO broke the arm of Angel Asesino. Here you have one of, if not the, greatest luchadors the world has ever seen - and all of that fame, that notoriety that he rightfully earned in Mexico - gone because of a decision a few people made. I could see frustration in my boys eyes knowing he had to start from ground up again, but there is no better place to do it than here. And no better people to do it against."
Miles reached out for his mug. Earl Grey tea was the beverage of choice for the moment.
"One of those people being Walter Hobbs. Here's a man who, like like Lord, won his debut Vendetta match but not in the best of ways mind you. You see, his opponent - who was providing a rather impressive beating to Mr. Hobbs - decided the ring was the best place to fall asleep, thus allowing Hobbs an easy victory following a poorly executed headbutt that almost ended his night, if not career. Want to know the major difference between ZERO and Arthur Thomas? ZERO won't fall asleep. Instead he'll put you to sleep, following a dazzling offensive display of brilliant technique, vicious striking and finishing off with a submission that will make Mr. Hobbs curl up and sleep like a baby. All of which, Hobbs has no defense against. Maybe if he were a bit more experienced with a real trainer - but, he's not."
Sip of tea, followed by a quiet "ah" as he sat the mug down.
"The other person? Lord Blake. Now, is it just me or does anyone else find it rather absurd that a wrestling company such as RSW would hire someone who thinks and fully considers themselves trained after they show up to a gym - which has been already burnt to it's foundation? Lord isn't quite all there in the noggin', and that fact alone is testament to that. But with rather limited training, if any at all, Lord seemingly believes himself to be better than the rest of the company; because of what? His last name. In a company rich in second-generation athletes, all of who's material predecessor's were quite talented, I feel that Lord Blake has perhaps the least chance of success. With poor endurance, stamina, and actual technique - I don't see him lasting as long around here as say, a Mondae Chaos or an Arianny Blake. Especially considering what he's coming up against in a few days time."
"At the end of it all, Mr. Hobbs and Mr. Blake need to stop and think about what exactly they're getting themselves into. ZERO is regarded as one of the top wrestlers in his class. A living, breathing legend in Mexico. Hallways are still filled with chatter about what he's accomplished, and - yes - even his last actions there. I have encouraged him to embrace that vicious side that he showed down in Guadalajara and believe me; he will. So that, my friends, spells bad news for the two of you - doesn't it?"
Clicking the video page closed, and turning fully to the camera.
"Heritage won't help Lord. Spousal support won't help Walter. All that they can look forward to is defeat at the hands of ZERO. It's inevitable."
And that was that. A smile from Miles would be the indicator to the camera crew to end the video.
