Raven MacDemare was quiet on the way home from Shoot Saturday. Her match hadn’t exactly gone well. Bryce Albright had been way too big and way too strong, and Lord had decided to throw the towel in for her before things had gotten out of hand. Raven knew Lord had good intentions in stopping her match, but it made her question herself. Was getting inside the ring a mistake? Did she even remotely have what it takes to be a wrestler?
“You’re quiet,” Lord remarked as the two rode in the back of Driver’s limousine. Raven was curled up against Lord’s side dressed in a pair of comfy Carolina Panthers sweatpants and a matching hoodie. Her gorgeous dark locks were pulled into a sloppy bun.
“Just thinking,” Raven replied honestly. Lord had replaced his discarded T-shirt with a vintage ‘Adam Blake GWA’s Franchise’ shirt and was wearing the same jeans from earlier. Lord pulled Raven tighter against him and brushed a stray piece of hair back off her forehead. “Tell me.”
Raven hesitated. She didn’t want to ask Lord why he thought she wasn’t capable of handling Bryce Albright. Honestly, she knew the answer. He was still worried about her and the lasting effects Vendetta I would have on her. But other than her inability to even remotely mount any type of offense against Bryce Albright, Raven was just fine.
“Raaaaaaaaaaaaavey,” Lord prompted and finally she relented. “You didn’t have to throw the towel in. Or shirt, whatever. Like, I was fine.”
Lord frowned. “You probably were,” he replied, but Raven knew he was lying. Lord didn’t think wrestling was for her but he would never be anything other than supportive. “But I didn’t like the way Albright was treating you. I feel much better about you facing Aaron Asphyxia this upcoming week.”
Raven loved him for attempting to spare her feelings.
“Look, I know I’m not going to wrestle circles around anyone but you have to give me a chance to try. Even if Bryce would have continued his onslaught, I would have been able to recover. Between gymnastics and cheerleading, my ability to withstand punishment is pretty darn good. I’ve been putting my body through hell for years. You were watching the Olympic trails with me last night. Gymnasts take a beating. Lord, you have to trust me in that ring. I can handle my business. That’s why I signed the contract that made me a competitor. I love you and I love that you want to keep me so safe, but I can do this baby.”
Lord sighed. He wasn’t exactly going to give up this battle because he would never be okay with her facing men bigger than he was. But he did steer the conversation in a different direction.
“Okay, fair. You can withstand the wear and tear wrestling brings. Aaron Asphyxia will not be holding anything back on Thursday because she is incredibly talented. This will be her debut for RSW and in a company that is home to two supreme alpha bitches she’s going to want to prove a point.”
“Totally.”
Raven was well aware that fact.
“I have a tremendous amount of respect for her. She knows her way around the ring. But with experience comes confidence, and sometimes that can lead to cockiness. If I had her talent, I might be a little cocky too. But if she overlooks me and doesn’t focus a hundred percent, I could catch her off guard. She’s quick but I am just a little faster. She will take to the air. I may not have a had a chance to take it up top yet, but I am waiting. We both know that I am fearless. She can out-wrestle me, but I’m not going to just stay down. I will recover, I will persevere, and my plan is to make this match last as long as I can. Let me give her an actual match. Don't get involved, please babe. I have to learn and I have to grow."
Raven looked up at her man and gave him a reassuring smile.
"I want to win and I want to get better. Eventually, we can be the golden couple of RSW. We can take the tag titles off MGM!"
Apparently both Raven and Lord considered MGM's titles legit RSW titles. Only them.
Only in their dreams.
/End.
