-- FILMED @the ARENA JUST A FEW HOURS BEFORE SHOOT SATURDAY BEGINS
Raven MacDemare sits in the middle of the ring, legs crossed underneath her. She’s dressed in her gear, makeup done to perfection, and hair pulled back into a high ponytail. Shoot Saturday is beginning soon, but right now the building is quiet.
“Pretty soon, the second ever Shoot Saturday is taking place and I’m very excited. The last time I stood in this ring on a Saturday, Bryce Albright walked out the victor due to a technicality. Tonight, I am thrilled over the possibility that the end result could be much different. For all of Hanalei’s bravado, I’m sure she is going to have some nerves as well. Even the most experienced competitor still gets nervous when they step inside the ring. All of us risk our lives and our health when we step inside the ring, and tonight will be Hanalei’s first ever match. I’m glad I’m the one who gets be inside that ring with her. What she could potentially bring to the table is much different than what I can do. She’s likely more of a brawler than anything else.”
Raven smooths her hair.
“Of course, I have never been in an actual fight before. The closest I’ve come to exchanging actual blows with someone is when a member of Chi Omega decided to flirt with Lord during last year’s homecoming game. That's not okay. Of course, I had also been drinking Hunch Punch since eight o’clock that morning and that’s probably why I found myself so wound up at that moment.”
She giggles a little at the memory.
“But this is another time and another place, and almost fights aren’t going to help me if Hanalei decides she doesn’t want this to be a wrestling match. Deep down, I know I can hang with her. I’m a conditioned athlete who can last no matter how long a match goes. Knowing I can rely on my ability to withstand punishment and hang around no matter how desperate the situation may seem, means I have a great chance. Hanalei could very well get ahead of herself and make a terrible mistake. I’m already sure she’s not worried about me and that is my biggest weapon going into this match. And it’s why that no matter what, I will not quit.”
Raven smiles and looks right into the camera.
“Earlier this week, I was asked by a fan why I wouldn’t just quit or give up. I’m not that type of person. Football analogies aside, I just can't do that. I haven’t had a fair chance here. I deserve the opportunity to see if this is what I’m meant to do. Tonight, we find out. Tonight, Hanalei Brightly and I get an opportunity to see which one of us will shine brighter. I can't wait.”
/End.
