Raven MacDemare knew that at any moment her beloved boyfriend Lord Blake would burst through those doors and scoop her up in his arms. Despite the fact he had been left unconscious by Archer at the end of Vendetta, his only concern was for her well-being. The only thing that got Raven through her ordeal with Jackson Kendrick was knowing that Lord was out there searching for her, thinking about her, and loving her. They were an unbreakable couple. She was currently waiting for Dr. Markgraf to return. He had checked her out and decided she needed to stay overnight for observation.
“RAVEY!” Lord banged open the door and barged into the room. A smile broke out across Raven’s sweet but battered face as he rushed to her and pulled her close. Raven wrapped her arms around Lord, squeezing tightly, never wanting to let go. “How are you?” Raven asked when she finally pulled away. She looked over Lord’s injuries and cupped his face with her hands. “That looks awful.”
“It’s nothing,” Lord promised her. “I’m fine. Archer took the coward’s way out tonight. Next time, the result will be much different. What did the doctor say? Are you okay? Did Kendrick…”
Lord’s voice trailed off. He couldn’t bear to finish that sentence. Raven brushed her lips against his. “I don’t want to talk about what happened with Jackson Kendrick ever again. I’m safe and you’re okay. We both have to move on. We both advanced in the Supreme Championship tournament.” Raven forced her voice to sound cheery and upbeat. No matter what she was going through, she would always be that happy, positive girl for Lord.
Lord clenched his fist and Raven immediately felt her stomach drop. “I’ve got Archer, don’t I?” Her voice was barely a whisper.
Lord nodded. “I’m pissed. Archer won’t stop until he forces us out of RSW. I’ll be in the ring against Mondae. It’s the worst situation ever. Archer deserves nothing more than a straight up ass kicking. These tournament matches are not fair.”
Raven shuddered. It wasn’t like facing Mondae Chaos was any better. Raven had known Mondae since they were children. The girl was insane, and Raven felt ill all of a sudden. “I don’t like this at all,” she murmured.
“There’s nothing we can’t handle or get through, Ravey. Both of us have worked so hard for this opportunity. We deserve to have our names forever etched in history as the first two people to ever compete for the RSW Supreme Championship. We may have wanted tag team gold to begin with, but this is even better. Archer will get what’s coming to him. In fact, the greatest revenge we can get on him until I can teach him a lesson will be you beating him. I know you can do it.”
Lord was so reassuring and it made some of the tension leave Raven’s body. Archer didn’t deserve a shot at RSW’s most prestigious championship and it was going to be up to Raven to make sure that didn’t happen.
“If you believe in me, I believe in me.” Raven laced her fingers through Lord’s. “And you’ll beat Mondae.”
“I will absolutely beat Mondae.” Lord reassured her. He was so full of confidence.
At that moment, Dr. Markgraf walked back into the room. “Miss MacDemare, we have your room ready. If Mr. Blake will head up to Room 25H, we will get you settled. I don’t see any reason why you can’t go home tomorrow morning.”
Lord and Raven exchanged longing looks. They didn’t even want to be separated for a few minutes after what they had just gone through. Dr. Markgraf sighed. "I understand you're both dealing with a lot. It will only be for a few minutes. We just have to take Miss MacDemare to the fourth floor."
Lord raked his hands through his hair. "Fine. But I am making sure there's a lot of security in this place. No one will ever hurt Raven again."
Lord kissed Raven and headed out. With a sigh, she settled back against her pillows. She had a lot to process and it was going to be a long night. At least she was back where she belonged; right at Lord's side.
