Project ZERO: Part II
“Mississauga, Ontario.”
The company was Ontario Pro., ran by Daniel Tremaine. It was here that I had my first taste of “the life”. I defeated a Pure Violence artist in David Christensen, using my strong wrestling technique to easily get past him. And then? And then Daniel Tremaine paired me with Ginny Genocide to face Andrew Davidson and Aria Spencer. Ginny’s boyfriend Jamie tagged along with us for the week leading up to Live! I trained alongside them both, learning how to function as a tag team with Ginny for this match. I had no intention of remaining a team with them.
But things progressed. Myself and Ginny co-existed and worked like a well oiled machine against Davidson and Spencer, winning the match. Now just moments before the match was scheduled to take place, Daniel Tremaine announced the match would be for the Trifecta Tag Team championships, meaning the winning team would choose their third partner. We won, and to Ginny the choice was a no-brainer. She instinctively gave the third championship to Jamie Static, thus giving birth to “Project 138”.
I just finished competing against and defeating Vinny Vargas. I walked through the makeshift entrance way, my championship over my shoulder. Instantly, my eyes found the pair I have been teamed with. They had smiles on their faces, their titles around their waists and fresh sheets of paper in their hands. I was confused. They approached me quickly, handing me one as well.
I drowned everything out. Ginny began speaking, but was inaudible. Jamie nodded along wearing a huge grin, watching as I looked down to the papers. A press release co signed by Daniel Tremaine and Criss Dream. As I read down the paper, I came to the end.“Ontario Pro. has merged with GrandSlam Wrestling in California.”
That was when my hearing came back, just as Ginny was asking me if I was going to travel to California with them. She smiled as she lightly patted the title on my shoulder, telling me how we're all a team now.
I didn't answer.
I couldn't answer.
This happened all so quickly. Apparently Criss Dream was meeting talent one on one and offering them contracts. Ginny and Jamie would get theirs, I knew that. But I wasn't like Ginny or Jamie. I wasn't years into my career like they were. I was green. And I was only here because Adam Blake pulled strings.
It took a few minutes to process. Ginny and Jamie still waited, though my hesitation caused them to worry. I'm not sure what they expected. Did they expect Project 138 to continue our path? I barely knew these two, and yeah - we're champions here, we clicked and maybe even became friends.
But to instantly think I'll hitch a ride with them without thinking?
Finally, though, I would agree. Might as well, right? I didn't have any other company to go to. I agreed to meet with Criss Dream about his company. Ginny and Jamie would have their meetings after mine.
