LOCATION: The Arena; just a few hours before the beginning of Deception
It had been an agonizing two weeks for Raven MacDemare. Despite FaceTime, Skype, and texting basically all day, she had not handled being separated from her beloved bae Lord Blake very well. Paris, the city of love, had been miserable without the future RSW Supreme Champion by her side. Raven had been determined to make it back in time for Deception. The lack of sleep, jet lag, and overall exhaustion were the last things on her mind as Hailey Banks finally pulled up to The Arena.
“Hurry and park,” Raven urged as Hailey pulled around to the back of the building. She didn't want to waste another minute.
Their trip to the airport hadn't been without drama. They had gotten tacos for lunch and sometime during that it had dawned on Aiden Van't Hoff that he had no ring gear. So a trip to Aiden’s condo had put them all in direct contact with the awful Maisi Alexander and now the four of them were all stuck inside Hailey’s vehicle.
It had definitely been the most awkward ride ever.
“Relax,” Aiden replied and removed Maisi’s hand from his arm. “I'm sure the Lord isn't going anywhere any time soon.”
Raven turned around and shot him a look. “You try being separated from the love of your life for like ages.”
Aiden smirked. He would never have that problem.
“Aiden just can't live without me can you baby?” Maisi was practically purring, putting on a most fantastic show as she had been most of the ride, and Hailey made a gagging noise. It was only a matter of time before Maisi and Hailey ended up in a fight but Raven wasn't interested at the moment.
Thankfully, Hailey finally parked. Raven practically sprinted from the car and into the building. All thoughts of Archer, title belts, and everything in between flew from her mind. All she could think of was Lord. She knew he would be backstage, shooting promotional commercials for the company. As soon as she rounded the corner and saw the film crew a squeal escaped from her lips. Startled, everyone turned and looked, including Lord, and a huge smile broke out across Raven’s beautiful face.
“BABY!!!”
She practically jumped in Lord’s strong arms and wrapped her legs around his waist. “I missed you so much.”
All of the stress, anxiety and depression of the past week evaporates from his body as soon as his arms wrap around her back. For a moment he forgets about everything Archer. When he pulls back to kiss her forehead though, his lips touch the bandage above her eyebrow; the result of his opponent's handiwork. His hand reaches up and lightly touches the bandage but Raven quickly pulls his arm down.
“It's not about that right now.”
For a moment, anger flashes in his eyes but dissipates when he looks back into hers.
“It is entirely about that. I could kill him for what he's done to you - for what he's done to us. One way or another I will end this. I'm so sorry for what I'm going to do and what I'm going to go through tonight. You know I didn't want you to come back yet. Not until I'm sure it's over.”
Raven gives him a stern look.
“Well you know that wasn't going to happen. I would not miss you winning the Supreme Championship. Not for the world.”
Lord knew. He had known that the minute he had forced her onto that plane for Paris. Raven was nothing if not determined. She believed that it was their battle. She wiggled out of Lord’s arms and took both of his hands in hers.
“We are in this together,” she reminded him. “Your fight is my fight, and tonight everything will end. It WILL be over. Archer is going to find himself on the receiving end of a ‘Drunk Text’ and you will be the first ever Supreme Champion in RSW. It's your destiny, baby.”
Raven’s voice was brimming with pride and confidence. She had no doubts about Lord’s ability to get the job done once and for all tonight. She stood on her tiptoes and brushed her lips across her boyfriend’s. "In just a few hours this entire nightmare will be behind us. I don't care what you have to do to get the job done. I've got you."
Lord felt immediate relief. He should have known that Raven would be behind him and whatever terrible action he had to take later on tonight against Archer. "It's not going to be pretty out there, Rave." He was serious. "It will be a bloody fight until the bitter end."
"I know, and it's okay. I just want to see Archer pay for what he's done to us."
Lord wanted that too. He had spent the entire week making sure everything was perfect. He had constantly called Archer out, practically begged the man to make a move, but Archer was being slow and methodical. He was saving everything for later on. Lord had his light tubes ready. In fact, he could honestly say he was ready. This was about pride. This was about silencing doubts. This was about proving to everyone that he belonged in this business - that the Blake Legacy (the ones with the actual talent) was in good hands. It was about standing up for himself and for Raven. It was about revenge.
"He will pay, Rave. I swear on everything we both love that he will pay. I will not let you down. I won't let myself down."
Raven smiled and slipped her arms around Lord's waist. She rested her head against his chest, perfectly happy to just hold him and reassure him that no matter what, he would always be a champion.
He would always be her champion. Everything was going to work out for them.
