The silence at the table was overwhelming and Raven MacDemare slowly felt her patience slipping away. She was doing her best to be sympathetic and understanding towards Lord Blake and his feelings, but even someone as sweet as Raven had her limits. Lord had been gruff and rude, and just an overall awful person to everyone for the past week or so. He had destroyed the set of “Wake Up, San Francisco”, cost Evelyn Sparks her second job in less than a month, and lost an incredible sponsorship opportunity with Fitbit. Raven and Lord both swore by their Fitbits and honestly it upset Raven to no end that she wouldn’t be receiving any free products from them in the next few months.
The waiter came over to refill their glasses, and Lord just grunted. Raven grit her teeth and thanked the man. The waiter shot her a grateful smile and hurried off, leaving Lovey alone with one another. Raven folded her hands in her lap and shot Lord an annoyed look. Very rarely did Raven get frustrated, especially at the love of her life, but right now she was done babying him.
“You need to relax.”
Her voice was soft, but it was stern. Lord didn’t seem thrilled at her suggestion. For whatever reason, he had brought the RSW Supreme Championship on their dinner date and it had its own chair. It was slung carelessly across the back. Raven and Lord both looked at the championship at the same time and sighed.
“You have every right to be upset about everything that is going on, but why act like you are angry at the world?”
“Because it’s fucked up.”
It was absolutely the most screwed up, corrupt situation Raven had ever seen. She nodded her head in agreement. “I agree, baby. But what about our time in RSW hasn’t been screwed up? I don’t need to sound like a broken record and start listing all the crimes that have been committed against us because everyone knows our story. Why get angry and lash out now? These are just two more obstacles that we will overcome.”
“It’s bullshit, Ravey. We deserve better than this. Why the fuck am I facing a girl who insists on making sure her psycho friend gets another shot at my title?”
“The same reason I’m facing that girl’s psycho friend,” Raven pointed out with the patience of a saint. “This is a game to those people and all they care about is winning. Do you think for one second that the marriage of Arianny Blake and Shawn DeLise is legit? Arianny wants his money and his power, and somehow she managed to get it. Now she’s using it to make all of us miserable. Personally, I don’t believe in giving them what they want. She placed me in a streetfight against Mondae to intimidate me and harass me. I’m not scared and I’m not worried about what could happen.”
Raven knew Lord was less than thrilled about her upcoming Vendetta match, but she refused to entertain his feelings on the subject. She was her own person and a RSW superstar. Regardless of how Raven had gotten her contract, she was focused on fulfilling the obligations set forth inside it and if that meant facing Mondae Chaos in a streetfight she was going to do just that.
“Mondae has already made me miserable in more ways than one, but here I am. I’m mentally prepared for next Thursday and even though I’m injured, I’ll be physically ready as well. We have a job to do here in RSW. The worst that can happen is we both lose our matches. So what, babe? My record here isn’t the best because I’ve had some bad luck. It is what it is. I’m working hard, trying to get better, and not being confined to a ring gives me more room to run around. This streetfight doesn’t necessarily favor Mondae. I will outlast her and that will frustrate her. She will snap and try something stupid, and then I can strike. I can jump off anything. I can catch her off guard. And honestly, I don’t even care that you’re banned from the building. You are the reason I’ve lost some of my matches.”
Raven smiled and took Lord’s hand.
"It'll be okay."
Raven truly believed that.
