Orange County, CA. was home to Richard, ever since he was born July 8th, 1983. Having been adopted when he was just a small baby, he didn't remember his real parents or any of his real family for that matter but that didn't matter to Richard because the way he looked at it was, to hell with them, they gave him up anyway so why should he care about them? As far as Richard is concerned, his adopted parents and family are blood to him and he has been very fortunate to have the family that he has.
Walking through the back door into a very beautiful home, Richard headed into the kitchen where he immediately started rummaging through the very expensive refrigerator. This kitchen is gorgeous, definitely a lot of money has been put into it but that's normal when your father is a Neurosurgeon and your mother is a psychiatrist. Finding exactly what he wanted, he closes the heavy silver door of the fridge and begins to make himself a sandwich as an older gentleman walks into the kitchen with a smile on his face
Charlie: Always raiding the refrigerator I see, haha. Anyway, it's good to see you son, what brings you by here?
Wiping his hands off, he immediately walks over to his father and gives him a bear hug showing him just how much that he loves him. Upon releasing the hug, he walks back over to the counter and continues to make his sandwich while having a nice, peaceful conversation with his father.
Richard: Well I have some pretty good news if I may say so myself. You guys already know that I love the theater, that I love acting and all of that but lately; I have needed a new challenge. You know from our weekly basketball games together that I am quite the athlete, that I am in tremendous shape and so with that: I decided to contact the RSW wrestling promotion and well – I have an interview with them tomorrow.
Biting his bottom lip and looking at his father nervously, he knows that his father is a big wrestling fan or used to be anyway but he wasn't sure how his father would take this news. As his father grabs a drink from out of the refrigerator, everything goes quiet for just a minute, that is until his father breaks this awkward silence.
Charlie: Really? If I may ask, what brought this on son?
Continuing to make his sandwich, it's turning out to be a really big one as Richard immediately responds to his father's question.
Richard: Well you know how much that I love to watch it on television and I figured, why not? I had a local independent wrestler offer to train me a little bit and when I got to thinking about it, it just sounded like the kind of challenge that I really needed to take.
You're not mad are you daddy?
As he takes a drink, he shakes his head after it and responds to what Richard had to say.
Charlie: No, of course not son. I understand the need to try something new, to challenge yourself. I think it's great personally and I know your mother will think so as well. If there's anything we can do for you then please; don't hesitate to let us know, OK?
Making Richard tear up, he is a pretty emotional guy, especially when it comes to his loving family who has always been so supportive. Walking up to his father again, he embraces him in another loving hug and then pulls back after a moment with a large smile on his face.
Richard: Will do pops and thank you again, it means so much coming from you guys.
Genuinely meaning everything that just came out of his mouth, Richard walks back over to the counter to finish his sandwich. Smiling very humbly, his father pats him on the back and then exits the kitchen as he has things to do before heading into his next surgery. Watching his father walk away, all Richard can do is smile and after he finishes making his sandwich, he leans against the counter and begins to think about his new career which is really nervousing and exciting all at the same time.
The thought that runs through his head repeatedly is, can he do it? Well nobody knows just yet but the only way to find out is by trying and that's exactly what he's going to do.
