Quit Trying To Make It Happen
*****
ON CAMERA
“Quit trying to make fetch happen!” Zach says into the shaky camera. A giggle from behind the camera.
“Hold it straight silly!”
“I am trying, Zachie! The screen is so big. I’m not used to such a big one!”
Zach almost loses it and dies laughing.
“What?”
“Nothing.” He laughs again. “Just know that I am not being a meanie. Sometimes we just need to be straightforward.”
She nods. Sammi zooms in as Zach looks into the camera.
“HanaBear. A great team, fighting for what they believe in. I respect it. But what I cannot respect is that at first they were focused on The Revolution and their Rally. I get it; it is a cause that means something to them. But only after we called them out they decided to speak up against us. So either they are trying to make their version of “fetch” happen, or they as being reactionary. In this business, you need to be proactive.”
Zach takes a breath, and continues.
“There has been discussion about strength versus submission. Methodology versus on-the-fly. I get where a part of knowing your opponents is seeing their strengths and weaknesses. I feel like Sammi already address some of those concerns, and me rehashing them is futile. In the end, this is a tag team match. Sammi and I pair well. Like a nice steak and a great bottle of wine. They are great on their own, but together they complement each other nicely.”
Zach nods into the camera, and smiles at the operator of the camera behind it.
“Team Zammi vs Team HanaBear. In what could be a great match and a possibly match between two tag team contenders. Hanalei wanted to point out that I did not like tag team matches. And she would be correct. But as I stated against The Cruz, I did not like tables matches either but I went out and still won. Not everyone has a good day at work or loves their job, but they still do it to the best of their ability regardless. I give one hundred percent no matter the task at hand. I trust Sammi.”
He looks off camera to check her reaction quickly.
“I trust her inside of the ring and believe in her abilities. She will give everything that she has and I know that I have no qualms about her having my back. You and Bear seems to agree about your cause, and while that is important it seems like it is something that you are trying to force. You are not even on the same page. Bear wanted to come out and take digs at me. While you wanted to get Sammi and myself at the Rally and to support the cause. Sammi and I? We’ve been on the same side since day one. Go back and watch our promos. We have talked about how we are facing a good team. We know that inside of the ring, you both will give your best. But we just want your attention to. It is not a matter of ego or arrogance, but Sammi and I want to beat the best only at their best. Between the mean girls, rally, and The Revolution… your attentions are quite split. You address things as they are handed to you. Sammi and I know that there is issues in RSW. And they will be taken care of. But the match comes first for us because that is our job. And that is our focus. In due time, we will surely get our shots at those mean girls and whoever else needs to be knocked down a peg. For this show, stop trying to make a revolution happen and come out swinging against us. We don’t want any excuses after we earn the three count. After the match ends, I am ready to shake your hands. And I hope that the feeling is mutual.”
Zachary reaches out for the camera as Sammi thinks that she stopped the video. It continues to record as the video points to the ground. The audio can still be heard.
“That was so good, Zachie!”
“Thanks Sammi. Did you want to go and grab some dinner?”
“Ummm, sure.”
“Steak and wine?”
“Steak sounds good! But-”
“Steak and iced tea?”
“Totesily.”
The video fumbles around as a finger is shown on the video, and the recording comes to an end.
